The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology is a strong partner for innovation in the fields of health and environment. Our experts develop new findings and implement them in innovative technologies and solutions. The Health & Environment Department provides scientific support to national and international research partners from industry and public institutions.

One of our main research areas is “sensing life” including the development of bio- and nanosensor systems, such as biochips for medical diagnostics.

In our biochip activities we cover all steps of biochip technologies, like development of surface chemistries, design of oligonucleotide probes, arraying, protein assay development, strategies for signal enhancement, assay validation and data analysis. Recently oligonucleotide chips for pathogen detection and protein biomarker chips for diagnosis of sepsis and prognosis of melanoma have been successfully realized.
